Daily Wisdom: Celebrating Menopause

In our culture, menopause is a private business, not something to be celebrated. We devote very little energy as a society towards celebrating the feminine passages – and menopause especially is often ignored or denigrated.

I don’t just want to change this a little. I don’t just want to make menopause into something a little bit positive that we can talk about quietly amongst ourselves. Nope! We want to change this completely… we want to transform our attitude towards feminine aging from one of struggle and fear to one of celebration and power. Menopause is our gateway into elderhood – and it could and should be celebrated as an honourable and exciting rite of passage. I want you to feel excited that you are entering menopause – excited about the gifts that are coming to you at this stage of life, excited about the transformations and the new kind of beauty and energy you get to embody now.

We have a lot of work to do to bring women to this new celebratory and honourable experience of menopause ~ and that work starts with me and you and all the little choices we make in our daily lives and all the little things that we tell ourselves and each other. This work starts with each of us facing ourselves with compassion, admiration, love, and celebration as we change with the years. Let us embody a beauty that shines from within. Let us know that we can be more beautiful now in our wisdom than we ever have been in our lives before. And I am talking bone-deep alight-from-within beauty here.

Please, shine your light of wisdom today. And every day. We need to shine that light for each other.
